Thank you for your interest in Brookhaven College. The following information will explain the admission procedures and documents required of non-immigrant international students. All documents must be original or notarized copies and must be received by the appropriate deadline to begin the admission process.

Faxes will NOT be accepted

There is no fee to apply to Brookhaven College or to receive the I-20. All forms needed for international student applications can be found on the Multicultural Center web site.

*Embassies in certain countries may require additional processing time for student visas.

Required Documents

  1. Application for International Student Admission

    We must have accurate student information, including your home country address to issue an I-20

  2. Evidence of Financial Support

    United States immigration regulations require non-immigrant students to verify that they will have the necessary funds available to pay for all educational, living and other expenses while they study in the United States.

    If the sponsor lives outside of the United States the following documents are required:

    If the sponsor lives in the United States, the following documents are required:

    • Notarized Affidavit of Support for United States Residents (I-134)
    • A bank statement issued within the last three (3) months, showing a minimum balance of $17,000 U.S. dollars.
    • A copy of most recent W2 form, tax return or employment verification letter including annual salary may be required.
  3. Student Guidelines to Maintain Legal F-1 Status

    Please read carefully the requirements to maintain F-1 status, sign and return.

  4. I-20 Checklist

    This document will be used to keep track of all submitted application documents.

  5. Tuberculosis Testing

    • Out-of-country students will complete testing for freedom from tuberculosis when they arrive at Brookhaven College before registration in classes is allowed.
    • Transfer Students must submit proof of test taken in the U.S. within the last year with all transfer documents.

Upon receipt of all documents, the I-20 will be mailed to out-of-country students by regular mail.

If you plan on having a U.S. contact retrieve your I-20, please sign the Permission to Release I-20 (on the Application for International Student Admission) to allow us to release your documents.

Transfer Students

Students currently in the United States attending another college or university must provide:

Proof of English Language Proficiency - TOEFL

International Student Financial Guide

Academic year expenses (Estimated average expenses for 12-month academic year)

Tuition* $3,500
Living expenses $12,500
Books/supplies/insurance/other $1,000
Total: $17,000

Students should be prepared to pay tuition in full upon registration.

*These are average cost figures for a single student living away from home. Individual circumstances may vary. Additional financial support must be shown for dependents.
