Associate of Arts in Teaching degree for students planning to transfer to a four-year university to earn a bachelor's degree and teacher certification

If you plan to transfer to a four-year university to earn your teaching degree and certification for grades 4-12, you can begin at Brookhaven College by earning an Associate of Arts in Teaching. The three AAT curricula are designed to lead to teacher certification in three areas:

  1. elementary and middle school, including bilingual and ESL;
  2. high school and all levels of arts and special education certification; and
  3. specialized certification for those who plan to teach early childhood through Grade 4.

Each AAT degree consists of the Brookhaven College Core Curriculum and the additional course work required for the specific certification sought.

Child Development

The Brookhaven College Child Development Program is designed for those who plan to work with infants, toddlers and young children. There are several associate degree programs and certificates available.

Alternative Certification for Teachers
