Alternative certification offers a fast track to a teaching career for those individuals with a bachelor’s degree who did not choose teaching as their primary degree path. The alternative certification route will help enable you to acquire pre-employment training, pursue and accept a paid teaching position, and complete full state certification training and testing requirements while teaching on a probationary certificate.

Brookhaven College is accredited by the Texas Education Administration, TEA, to offer standard teaching certification in Math, Science, History and Social Studies. The program runs year-round. The Alternative Certification for Teachers Program meets state requirements with the goal of helping prepare you to become certified in subject areas that are in critical need and high demand.
