Brookhaven College School of the Arts’ Music Department provides students with career
training in performance, theory and composition. The program offers courses that lead to an
Associate in Arts/Sciences degree or transfer to a senior institution.
Music Department course offerings include: private music instruction,
performing ensembles, keyboard, theory, ear training, digital music, music literature and
music appreciation.
The Music Department is a part of the
Brookhaven College School of the Arts, the major training and
performance venue for all students who are involved in the many performing ensembles of the
college. The School of the Arts presents nationally-known musical performing artists in concert,
and provides workshops for students and the surrounding communities of Farmers Branch,
Carrollton and Addison. These events, combined with a weekly recital series of local professionals,
provide students with many listening and performing opportunities. See our

Brookhaven College Wins Honors at Jazz Festival
Students from Brookhaven College won outstanding soloist honors at the North Texas Jazz
Festival in the categories of vocalist, guitar and trumpet.
New Song Writing Class Announced
Hit song writer and Brookhaven College music professor Gil Trythall will teach a song
writing class beginning in fall, 2007. No previous musical knowledge is required.
